be well, be whole, be you

It's a different kind of loss when both people involved decide mutually it's for the best not to partake in one another any longer--at least not as lovers.

It's a letting-go-loss. Like when you were younger and you begged your parents for the most beautiful helium balloon at the fair, and then, after staring at it for forever-to-a-five-year-old, you let it go to watch with fascination as it gets higher--as it becomes more magnificent than it could ever become tied to your wrist.

But then you realize it's never coming back, and you feel that you've cheated yourself, and there's nothing you can do but watch as the balloon becomes smaller and smaller and smaller, and you begin to panic, because there's such a helplessness watching something you love very much pull away from you.

But then, you notice that you're still holding your breath, wanting the balloon to fly uninterrupted, because it is a beautiful sight to see something you love become better.
